History of Vietnam Lecture Series.

Vietnam's four thousand year history is, sadly, known only through Hollywood's sensationalized conflict with the U.S. for the 2 decades in the 20th century. This series of lectures on the history of Vietnam will attempt to dispel the myths and shed light on the proud history of Vietnam through facts - not movies.

April 10 - The Buddhist Dynasties - Ly, Tran and early Le

April 17 - The Imposition of Chinese Neo-Confucianism under the Le, Mac and Trinh

April 24 - The Tay Son Challenge, the Nguyen Restoration of Orthodoxy and the Arrival of the West

May 1 - Vietnam in Modern Times: French rule and the rise of Nationalism

May 8 - Communism and the Vietnam Wars

Research Study.

You are eligible to participate in this study if you are a midlife woman aged 40 to 60 years old who does not have any mobility problems; who can read and write English; who is online; and whose self-reported ethnic identity is Hispanic, non-Hispanic (N-H) White, N-H African American, or N-H Asian.

Data will be collected through an Internet survey among 500 midlife women in the U.S. starting Feb. 1, 2008 and ending May 21, 2011.

Your involvement will consist of about 30 minutes to complete the Internet survey questionnaire. You will be reimbursed with a $10 gift certificate for filling out the Internet survey.
